What is a Chit Chat Design Consultation?

Studio office of Houston residential interior design firm Nancy Lane Interiors.

If you've ever had a design dilemma that you just couldn't figure out, or haven't worked with a designer before, our Chit Chat Design Consultations might be just the right fit for you!

This service is a great option if you:

  • are someone who enjoys design, and the shopping that goes along with that, but needs another (professional) head in the game to discuss ideas

  • are thinking about a renovation and have no idea how to budget to save for your particular vision

  • just moved into a new home and need paint color advice

  • have a large collection of art and have no idea how to utilize it in a new home

  • just moved and need help deciding what to keep and what to get rid of

  • are not quite ready for a full-service project, but you have one space that has been particularly difficult to get right, and need some expert advice

  • have had lackluster experiences with designers before, or you have never worked with a designer, and you want to get to know us a little better and how we work together before signing on for a large project

These are all real life examples of clients that have signed up for Chit Chat Design appointments over the years! And if you have another request that isn't covered here, don't be afraid to reach out and ask - we are problem solvers by nature, and these kind of questions are what we live for.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR ONE-TIME CHIT CHAT DESIGN CONSULTATION

Our Chit Chat Design Consultation is the least structured form of design service we offer. What does that mean? During this up to two hour consultation meeting, we will have "off the cuff" or impromptu conversations with you regarding your design dilemmas.

I will expect you to steer the conversation and have specific questions, design ideas, inspiration photos, examples of spaces, and product links you're considering ready for us to review and discuss during our meeting in order to make the most of our time together. We'll offer our professional advice to you regarding your questions and dilemmas, pulling from my knowledge and expertise from my years of experience in the design field.

Please note that there is no follow-up email, no visual design boards or renderings, no written to-do list, and no specific source links provided for this type of consultation. I ask that you take notes while I give you advice and explain ideas...hence the name Chit Chat Design.

You can take our word for it, but happy clients speak volumes higher than we ever will:

Thank you note from happy clients of Houston residential interior design firm Nancy Lane Interiors.

This lovely email received after a Chit Chat appointment recently with a very lovely couple seriously made my day:

Hi Nancy,

A quick note of gratitude for your time and guidance on Friday. You provided exactly what Tim and I were hoping for - and more! Please know how much we appreciate the time you took to get to know and understand our needs and wishes, and the time you gave to helping guide us through the next steps in making our house our home. We are so excited to pull the last pieces together thanks to your help.

We wish you a wonderful rest of the holiday season and look forward to staying in touch!

With gratitude,

Abby and Tim
